Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated that the government currently lacks sufficient information to decide on implementing a Bitcoin strategic reserve. According to a Dec. 26 report by CoinPost, Ishiba expressed uncertainty regarding the U.S. and other nations’ plans for Bitcoin reserves, saying, “It is difficult for the government to express its views.”
This response followed a question from lawmaker Satoshi Hamada, who urged Japan to consider converting part of its foreign exchange reserves into Bitcoin, following the example of countries like the United States.
As global interest in Bitcoin reserves grows, Japan remains cautious, with Ishiba signaling the need for more clarity on international developments before taking any steps.
